disney castle

Disney's Wide World Of Sports Complex is 200 acres of sporting action, while shoppers should head for Downtown Disney Marketplace. There are also numerous Disney Resort Hotels and 5 championship golf courses.

Walking between the Disney theme parks is not possible due to the distance involved. Use of the Disney monorail, ferryboats, and buses while on Disney property is included with your tickets so give those feet a rest! If you intend to go by car be sure to write down the name of your row as the parking lots at Disney are vast! Lockers are available so don't haul around lots of surplus items. When shopping avoid haulage altogether by utilizing 'Package Pick Up' and collect your purchases as you leave (Great idea!). Strollers and wheelchairs can be rented to speed your progress and do carry some water to avoid overheating.

Always get to the big theme parks as early as you can. You'll see more in the first couple of hours than you will all afternoon when the crowds reach their peak. Pick up a park map and entertainment schedule upon arrival. Operating hours vary from park to park and season to season.

Magic Kingdom Park
cinderella castleAt least one very full day and a comfortable pair of shoes required! The Park is shaped like a giant pizza with seven lands and the wondrous castle in the center. Save Main St. USA for later and head straight for the 'mountains' - Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain in Frontierland or Space Mountain in Tomorrowland. Families with younger children may want to head directly to Fantasyland complete with Cinderella's Carousel, Dumbo and a 'hunny' of a ride, The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh. Mickey's Toon Town Fair is the best place to see the Disney characters and a visit to the official residences of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse is compulsory! The charming Magical Moments Parade is every day at 3 p.m. Nightly there is the SpectroMagic Parade (seasonal). Enjoy Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks (on select nights).

Epcot
epcot centerExpect a very full day at Epcot as it's really two parks in one, shaped like a giant figure '8'. The park is as much educational as it is entertaining, with the Disney characters never too far away! Future World (the first half of the '8') is an interactive technological playground that offers trips around the human body, journeys into space, voyages under the sea and quantum leaps back in time! Try the Test Track! Head for Ellen's Universe Of Energy, a truly 'moving' theatre experience, and Innoventions, a hands-on expo of futuristic gadgets and gizmos. The World Showcase (the second half of the '8') opens at 11 a.m. Around the World Showcase Lagoon you can eat, drink, dance and sing your way around the world in the space of a couple of hours! Each of the 11 nations represented has live entertainment. Lunch or dinner in one of the excellent Epcot restaurants is a must. Enjoy the high energy Tapestry of Nations Street Festival. Twice nightly twenty-foot tall puppets sway and dance their way around the entire lagoon to a very infectious beat! The grand finale to the evening is IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, a stunning combination of lasers, fireworks, fountains and special effects!

Disney-MGM Studios
mgm studiosA full Disney day of movie classics, movie rides, and movie stars. Visit Sunset Boulevard and experience The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. The latest blockbuster is the very exciting Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. It's a deafeningly good indoor, inverted rollercoaster that offers Disney's FAST PASSSM option. Jim Henson's Muppet Vision 3D will be a 'pig' hit with the whole family as will the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. Don't miss the live versions of the Disney classics, Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage and also the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Star Tours with hosts C-3PO and R2-D2 is light years ahead of many simulator rides while Catastrophe Canyon is an unscheduled stop on the Disney-MGM Studios Backlot Tour you won't forget in a hurry! Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park
animal kingdomArive to this park early as animals love the cooler mornings, not the midday heat. This park opens early. Kilimanjaro Safaris is a good first stop, so head to the back of the park. There's tons of African wildlife on view and it looks, feels, and smells like the real thing! The Pangani Forest Exploration Trail leads to a close-up Gorilla encounter with these magnificent animals and an underwater tete a tete with some hippopotami! Elsewhere in the park the attention to detail is superb. The Tree Of Life is an inspired 145-foot creation that merits a tour all of it's own. Underneath the tree, you'll find It's Tough to Be A Bug a creepy crawly comedy. Youngsters love DinoLand USA where they can dig up a few old friends in The Boneyard. This is also where you'll find the Dinosaur ride, a thrilling adventure! The whole family needs to catch Festival of the Lion King. It's incredibly colorful and the award winning music is great! Asia is the latest 'land' to be added to the park. Don't miss the exciting Kali River Rapids or the beautiful tigers along the Maharajah Jungle Trek. For a really hip show 'swing' on over to Tarzan Rocks! for a concert combining hit songs and extreme sports! Camp Minnie Mickey is where you'll find the usual tribe of Disney characters just in case the kids need another cute picture!

Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park
central FL beach parkBlizzard Beach is a rapidly melting ski resort where chair lifts and ski jumps have been put to unusual use. Guests surf the slopes and shred the peaks on rides like Toboggan Racer, where they fly headfirst down the side of Mount Gushmore. You can ride a chairlift back to the top where you'll also find Summit Plummet, one of the world's highest free fall slides. Kids will love Tike's Peak where they can fool around on mini icebergs and smaller slides designed just for them. The whole family can ride a giant tube on the twists of Teamboat Springs, while more adventurous individuals can try out Runoff Rapids or Snow Stormers, which are both great fun. The wonderfully named Slush Gusher, with another very speedy descent, is also a big favorite. The Double Dipper is a downhill racer with one rider competing against the other for the fastest time . The much more sedate Cross-Country Creek on the other hand floats you through ice caves and under icy waterfalls!

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
florida water parkA 56 acre tropical tanning zone that's blessed with a big 4 foot surf wave that runs the entire length of the 2.5 acre lagoon every few minutes. When 'Miss Tilly' blows her stack its time to either ride it like a pro or bob like a cork! Snorkel Shark Reef for some added thrills. Landlubbers can watch the action through the portholes of an old shipwreck. More daring souls have to try the Humunga Kowabunga. Castaway Creek involves no thrills whatsoever, just a few gentle ripples as you zip around the park at 2 mph, while Ketchakiddee Creek is where little people under 4 feet tall hang out and enjoy their own pint sized pools and slides. Take your pick - Gang Plank Falls, Keelhaul Falls, Mayday Falls - all very creative ways to get the whole gang from top to bottom in as many different ways, at as many different angles and with the maximum amount of splashes as humanly possible!
